Job Description:
The Georgia Wildlife Federation in partnership with the Georgia R3 Initiative is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Academics Afield Coordinator at Georgia Southern University. The Georgia R3 Initiative is a collaboration between Georgia Wildlife Federation, GA DNR-WRD, National Deer Association, National Wild Turkey Federation and the Georgia Chapter of Safari Club International. The Academics Afield Coordinator will work closely with the Georgia R3 Coordinator and Georgia Southern Faculty Advisor at the Shooting Sports Education Center as part of the larger recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) initiative to increase hunting participation in and societal understanding of hunting. Coordinator job responsibilities include:

– Obtain a shooting coach certification
– Develop and implement a minimum of two R3 events per semester. Provide 8-12 students per event (with an interest in hunting, but limited experience) opportunities to learn from other students. A description of example programs can be found online at the Georgia Wildlife Federation’s R3 Blog.
– Work with GWF, college faculty, student chapters of conservation organizations, and other R3 partners to: locate hunting access; recruit participants and student coaches; coordinate education and shooting trainings; implement guided hunts with processing instruction; host follow up meals with harvested game meat; submit blog posts informing others of Academics Afield
– Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
– Current Georgia Southern student
– Demonstrated knowledge of shooting sports and hunting
– Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with multiple stakeholder groups
– Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
– Proficient with Microsoft Applications and Google Drive
– Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and guidance
– Must possess leadership skills, organizational skills, and work well as a team member
– Must be willing to work evenings and some weekends

Compensation:
$12 per hour and mileage reimbursement
