Sporting Recruitment Manager
Organization: Georgia Wildlife Federation (GWF)
Location: Covington, GA (Hybrid options possible)
Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Some evening and weekend work required; limited remote work may be considered.
Compensation:
- Salary: Starting at $45,000, commensurate with experience
- Mileage reimbursement included

Position Overview
The Academics Afield / Artemis GA Manager will lead two statewide initiatives designed to introduce new and diverse audiences—especially college students and women—to hunting, angling, and shooting sports.
- Academics Afield (AA): A mentoring program for college students from non-traditional hunting backgrounds, currently active at five Georgia institutions: Fort Valley State, Albany State, UGA, Georgia Southern, and ABAC.
- Artemis Georgia: A female-focused initiative that uses mentorship, education, and community-building to support new hunters and anglers through events, trainings, and virtual connections.
You will manage both programs using toolkits from the Georgia R3 Action Plan and in partnership with colleges, mentors, volunteers, and conservation stakeholders. This role blends outdoor leadership, program development, mentorship, and communication.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Partnerships
- Build and maintain relationships with faculty, mentors, outdoor organizations, volunteers, and community partners.
- Develop collaborative partnerships to grow program capacity and mentor networks.
- Stay connected with R3 partners and Georgia’s R3 State Coordinator.
Intern Management
- Hire and supervise interns (as funding allows) to support AA and Artemis GA.
- Provide or facilitate training in hunting safety and firearm use.
- Set clear expectations and guide interns in promoting, running, and reporting on events.
Outreach & Funding
- Promote programs to new audiences and stakeholders.
- Serve as GWF’s point of contact for public inquiries concerning hunting, fishing, and shooting sports.
- Seek long-term funding sources to sustain and expand programs.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
- Hunting and shooting experience
- Strong understanding of North American wildlife conservation
- Must obtain valid Georgia hunting and fishing licenses
Preferred:
- Experience with program and staff management
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Skilled in event planning, training delivery, and public engagement
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and video conferencing tools
- Background in education, outreach, sales, or marketing
- Experience producing digital content (e.g., blogs, photography, social media, podcasts)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to collaborate with diverse partners and maintain long-term relationships
