The Private Lands Program Manager will be responsible for providing overseeing the Georgia Wildlife Federation Private Lands Program which provides technical assistance and conservation planning to private landowners who are looking to enhance wildlife habitats and natural resources. The successful candidate will manage a team of biologists, conduct some fieldwork, design and implement multi-resource habitat management plans, develop conservation program goals, manage Georgia Wildlife Federation GIS systems, represent Georgia Wildlife Federation’s Private Lands Program at meetings and conferences, maintain and develop partnerships with fellow private lands conservation resources, seek and apply for grants and sponsorships to support the program, and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to achieve programmatic goals. Georgia Wildlife Federation is based in Covington, GA, but remote work within Georgia will be considered. Travel is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field assessments to evaluate wildlife habitat conditions and recommend management practices.
  • Communicate with landowners using a variety of methods including email, phone, text, and in-person.
  • Develop conservation plans tailored to landowners’ goals and site-specific conditions.
  • Provide technical assistance to landowners on wildlife management, habitat restoration, and sustainable land use practices.
  • Collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies, non-profits, and other partners to promote conservation initiatives.
  • Monitor and document the success of implemented conservation practices.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver presentations/education programs to landowners/resource professionals.
  • Prepare project-related and general wildlife management articles for Georgia Wildlife Federation’s social media, newsletters, and website.
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare reports on conservation activities and outcomes.
  • Seek and apply for private, federal, and other grants.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, natural resource management, forestry, ecology, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within Georgia (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Proficiency in using GIS and other mapping tools.
  • Experience with grant writing and administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Wildlife Biologist, Forester, or Ecologist Certifications are preferred.
  • Experience in wildlife habitat management, conservation planning, and working with private landowners.
  • Strong knowledge of Georgia’s ecosystems, wildlife species, and conservation practices.
  • Knowledge of Farm Bill programs (e.g. EQIP, CRP).
  • Experience with prescribed fire.
