The Georgia Wildlife Federation’s Hunters for the Hungry Program Coordinator oversees the Hunters for the Hungry program, campaigns, and activities related to fundraising and awareness for the program. Program responsibilities range from coordinating donations, fundraising, record-keeping, and volunteer management. Since 1993, hunters have been bringing meat to the tables of those in need through the Georgia Hunters for the Hungry program. Georgia Wildlife Federation has been a sponsor of GHFTH since it began by assisting in promoting the program and raising funds to pay processors for venison delivered to food banks.

 Location: Covington, GA
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Serve as point of contact for inquires related to GWF’s Hunters of the Hungry program and fundraising from public and/or press.
  • Inspect, meet, and contract with processors across the state to take donated deer.
  • Work to add new processors and donor sites to meet annual goals.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing team to create content for materials and communications related to all fundraising and initiatives. Content may include (but not limited to): emails, advertisements, flyers, invitations, website, social media posts, and newsletters.
  • Establish drop off donation locations for processed meat adjacent to processors, establishing relationships with food bank and food ministries across the state.
  • Collaborate with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to obtain any needed permits or donations for the Hunters for the Hungry program.
  • Assist in maintaining GWF’s fundraising software, database (The Databank), website, and other systems to ensure information related to fundraising is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Establish volunteers to help with program needs.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and relevant experience preferred.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, & Expertise:
  • Grant writing.
  • Experience managing events and/or coordinating fundraising efforts strongly preferred.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with excellent time management skills.
  • Flexible, team player who is service-oriented with high-level interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with all levels of co-workers, including assistants, staff, and senior management.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong aptitude to learn other software systems.
  • Experience driving with attached trailer.
Special Expectations:
  • Responsibilities of the role include travel and weekend or night work.
