Covington, GA – The Georgia R3 Initiative is proud to announce the hire of Breanna “Bre” Bashford to fill the vacancy of the Georgia R3 Coordinator. Her position is supported by the Georgia Wildlife Federation, Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division, National Wild Turkey Federation, National Deer Association, and Safari Club International. She aims to increase the social acceptance of and participation in hunting and shooting sports for the benefit of Georgia wildlife.
Bre comes to us from Colorado State University receiving her B.S. in Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. Her work experience includes environmental education in ecosystems ranging from the Colorado Mountains to the Atlantic Coast. She brings program management skills from working with The Boy Scouts of America and R3 advocacy skills working with California and Colorado State Agencies. Bre spent time on Jekyll Island teaching youth outdoor education before joining the Georgia R3 Initiative.
As an adult on-set hunter, she brings a non-traditional perspective to a typically tight-knit community. Bre shares that she was drawn to the activity for the locally sourced food but continued her involvement for the adventure and bonds developed with others. As a relatively new hunter, she has firsthand knowledge of the challenges of hunter recruitment and retention. She is passionate about hunting and wants to help others discover the incredible experience as well.
Bre recognizes the power of innovation, evaluation and is excited to build on the foundations laid by the R3 Initiative thus far. As the State Coordinator, Bre oversees GA Academics Afield Programs- collegiate hunting communities at UGA, GS, and ABAC. She is also involved in the Artemis Georgia initiative-a community of women seeking to engage, empower and encourage one another in conservation. Bre is working to improve the collaboration between Georgia Conservation Partners including the public, industry, government, and non-profit organizations. With her vast experience and focused goals, she will be an excellent R3 Coordinator for the state of Georgia.
