JANUARY 24 – The General Assembly concluded Day 5 of their 40 day legislative session on January 17. The week of January 20 through 24, the second week of the legislative session, the General Assembly is normally in recess but is having Appropriations Committee hearings to get the ball rolling on their only constitutionally required activity – to pass the funding “appropriations” for the State of Georgia and our various programs. The snowstorm the 21st certainly has impacted the ability to conduct those committee hearings, but legislative leadership has assured Georgians that the work on the budget will continue to move forward and will ultimately have no impact.
