Camp Charlie at the Okefenokee
November 4-6, 2022
Is your family interested in camping, but not quite comfortable enough to go it alone? Then Georgia’s Camp Charlie is for you.
Camp Charlie is a planned weekend of camping and hands-on outdoor activities. The program primarily targets families who would like to experience the outdoors with their children but may lack the knowledge, skill, equipment, and self-confidence to venture very far into the “wilds”. Thanks to support from Friends of Georgia State Parks, we will be headed to the Okefenokee this fall. Volunteers, mentors, and first-time campers from the Folkston area will join together to experience the wonders of the swamp. It’s a time to relax, enjoy friends and family, and get comfortable spending time in the outdoors.
Each family will have a mentor to make sure everyone feels welcome and has a great experience.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any family in the Folkston area interested in learning more about camping and enjoying a weekend in the outdoors.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
NOTHING. You just need to get you and your family to and from the campsite. Food, camping equipment, transportation and activities will be provided once at the campsite.
WHAT TO BRING?
Sleeping bag or sheets/blanket and any other personal items.
