Deer Hunting 101

Whether you’re new to deer hunting or preparing for the upcoming season, this hands-on course provides a comprehensive introduction to ethical and successful deer hunting in Georgia. Participants will learn about hunting regulations, public and private land access opportunities, firearms and archery equipment, hunting strategies, scouting techniques, shot placement, game recovery, and deer processing basics. The course is designed to build confidence and practical skills while helping hunters develop a deeper understanding of safe, responsible, and effective deer hunting from preparation to harvest. Women’s Bowhunter Clinic

Interested in bowhunting but not sure where to start? The Artemis GA Women’s Bowhunter Clinic is designed specifically for women who are new to archery and bowhunting or those looking to build confidence before heading into the field. This hands-on clinic provides a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can learn essential bowhunting skills from experienced mentors and instructors. Participants will learn:

  • Proper bow setup and adjustment
  • How to sight in a bow
  • Archery fundamentals and shooting techniques
  • Equipment selection and maintenance
  • Basic bowhunting knowledge and preparation

Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase a used bow package that includes key accessories such as a sight, stabilizer, and arrow rest—making it easier and more affordable to get started in the sport. Learn more and apply. Deadline to apply is August 21.

Bow Hunt Shoot Benefitting Artemis Georgia

Join us for a fun and challenging Bow Hunt Shoot designed for archers of all experience levels. This unique event features a 20-target ASA-style course with realistic hunting shot scenarios that simulate situations bowhunters may encounter in the field. Whether you’re preparing for hunting season, looking to improve your shooting skills, or simply want to enjoy a day on the range, this event offers a great opportunity to test your abilities while supporting a meaningful cause.

EVENT PRICING:

  • $20 Entry Fee (Pre-registration deadline is August 26)
  • Mulligans: 3 for $5 (available for purchase day of event)
  • Long Shot Challenge: $5 for 3 shots, $10 for 10 shots (available for purchase day of event)

All proceeds benefit Artemis GA and help fund educational programs, mentored hunting opportunities, and equipment purchases such as hunting stands, blinds, and other resources used to introduce more people to the outdoors. Come shoot, challenge yourself, and help support the future of hunting and conservation.  Pre-registration is preferred but walk-ups are welcome the day of the event. PRE-REGISTER by August 26.

Deer Hunt at Lake Oconee

Join us for a weekend of deer hunting with other enthusiastic outdoorswomen. The property is rarely used and has high success rates for deer hunting. All women are eligible to apply regardless of experience level; this hunt will be archery and/or gun. This is a primitive camping weekend. You may pitch a tent or camp in your vehicle on site. Artemis GA will provide dinner Friday and Saturday night. Cost: $75/person.

Doe-Only Deer Hunt

A doe-only hunt on our Artemis Alliance member Melissa’s beautiful north Georgia properties. She and her family are opening their doors and hosting us for a fantastic weekend. Archery or firearms welcome, but firearms need to be sighted in prior to arrival. If you need to borrow equipment, please reach out. Food and sleeping accommodations provided. New hunters and experienced hunters welcome.

Spaces are limited to 6 total. Complete the Artemis Georgia Pre-Survey if you haven’t yet, and apply below. Cost: $100 for a participant and free for someone volunteering to coach others. Payment will be requested after confirmation of participation selection. Email melissa@borowainc.com with questions. Georgia Wildlife Federation Duck Hunt
January 9, 2027

Join us for a morning duck hunt in Covington, Ga on January 9, 2027. We will be targeting one of the most beautiful duck species found in Georgia, the Wood Duck. To hunt ducks in GA, you are required to have your hunting license, your GA Migratory Bird Stamp, and the Federal Migratory Bird Stamp. You will need non-toxic steel shot #4 or #5. Cost: $35. Option for Friday overnight stay at GWF for an additional $80. APPLY BY DECEMBER 1.

Duck Hunt

Enjoy the flavors of duck hunting with Lynn and Tina near Statesboro. Meet up at the property Friday afternoon. Hunts will begin before first light and last until the birds are done flying usually around 9am. After pursuing duck there is opportunity for hunting rabbit, squirrel, maybe hog. We’ll be staying at cabins nearby. To hunt ducks you in GA, are required to have your hunting license, your GA Migratory Bird Stamp and the Federal Migratory Bird Stamp. You will need non-toxic steel shot #4 or #5.  Bring your own gear, but inquire with Lynn at lewis_weis@bellsouth.net if you are missing anything or have follow up questions. Complete the Artemis Pre-Program Survey if you haven’t yet. Application does not guarantee participation. Upon selection you will pay $100 to reserve your spot. APPLY BY DECEMBER 1.
