Georgia R3 Initiative

The GA R3 Initiative is a cooperative effort hosted by GWF and supported by GA DNR Wildlife Resources Division, the National Wild Turkey Federation the GA Chapter of Safari Club International and Ducks Unlimited. The Initiative is made up of stakeholders from across the state who have a vested interest in the goals of hunter, angler, shooting sport participant recruitment, retention and reactivation. The State R3 Coordinator, employed by GWF, guided by national research and a big picture vision, facilitates program innovation, fosters community support structures and acts as a resource for all R3 programs and new outdoor enthusiasts in Georgia. Our primary programmatic focuses include Academics Afield (collegiate hunting communities) and Artemis Georgia (engaging women in conservation through hunting, angling and target shooting).

Initiative Goals

Background information and the suggested strategies, actions, and tasks to accomplish these goals are defined in the Georgia R3 Action Plan Summer 2024. Broad R3 objectives and roles can be accessed via the R3 Vision.

R3 Community Activities

To increase and diversify participation in hunting and the shooting sports, passionate conservationists meet annually to combine efforts and influence R3 change in Georgia. In addition, the volunteer working group meets quarterly to drive action forward.
