Native Tree Giveaways in Buford and Covington

Saturday, February 28
10am – Noon

If you haven’t heard yet, we’re celebrating our 90th this year! To kick things off, we’re excited to announce two native tree giveaways made possible through a ReLeaf Grant from the Georgia Tree Council.

From 10am – 12pm on February 28, we will distribute 90 native trees at each of these locations:

  • Mill Creek Nature Center, Buford (Gwinnett County)
  • Alcovy Conservation Center, Covington (Newton County)

Trees will be 1–3 gallon native species, with potential selections including oaks, magnolias, dogwoods, and maples. While the final species list is still being confirmed, each tree has been selected to support long-term canopy growth and wildlife habitat.

We are encouraging participation from residents of Newton and Gwinnett Counties. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will be on site to help ensure participants choose the right tree for their location — increasing the likelihood that each tree thrives for years to come.

The giveaway is part of a greater effort of the Georgia Tree Council to increase Georgia’s urban tree canopy. Urban trees help reduce heat, improve air quality, decrease stormwater runoff, and provide habitat for wildlife.

Let’s plant for the next 90 years — and beyond.
