Artemis GA Range Day
January 18, 1pm

Join in our next Artemis GA Range Day! We’ll meet at 12:45pm at the check-in station at the Clybel Shooting Range in Mansfield. We’ll review safety and then head over to the 5-Stand range. Limited to 10 spots. Apply by January 5. The event is free, but if you’d like to support Artemis and the work we do to empower women in the outdoors, donations are welcomed and appreciated. APPLY
Private Lands Duck Hunt
Statesboro, GA
January 23th – 25th
Enjoy the flavors of duck hunting with Lynn and Tina near Statesboro. Meet up at the property Friday afternoon. Hunts will begin before first light and last until the birds are done flying usually around 9am. After pursuing duck there is opportunity for hunting rabbit, squirrel, maybe hog. We’ll be staying at cabins nearby. To hunt ducks you, are required to have your hunting license, your GA Migratory Bird Stamp and the Federal Migratory Bird Stamp. You will need non-toxic steel shot #4 or #5. Bring your own gear, but inquire with Lynn at lewis_weis@bellsouth.net if you are missing anything or have follow up questions. Complete the Artemis Pre-Program Survey if you haven’t yet. Application does not guarantee participation. Upon selection you will pay $100 to reserve your spot. Applications Closed

Learn & Burn with Pheasants/Quail Forever

Artemis Georgia is invited to participate in an upcoming Pheasants/Quail Forever Learn & Burn. The event, held at Red Oaks Plantation, is a one-day, hands-on prescribed fire training designed for landowners, natural resource professionals, and beginners interested in learning the basics of safe burning. Participants will take part in a live prescribed burn, gain practical experience using fire tools, and learn directly from experienced fire managers. Learn more and register.

Girls with Bows, an Artemis GA partner, is hosting a 3D archery shoot to benefit a new lease for outdoor hunting and shooting activities. Their goal is to create more opportunities for women of the outdoors and conservation. This is a casual shoot with 20 ASA targets. Join in this fund day filled with raffles, concessions, 1st place payouts, and of course, great fellowship with fellow archers! $20 entry fee to be paid at the door. See more details.

Turkey Calling Workshop

Hearing a gobble in the woods can send a chill down your spine. Speaking the turkey language to bring a bird closer to you can be one of the most rewarding hunting experiences. Join lifelong turkey hunter, Artemis GA Alliance member, and GWF Sporting Recruitment Manager Baylee Taylor at GWF Headquarters to learn or practice your turkey calling! The workshop will be March 7, 2025 9:30-2 PM, attendance includes lunch and a custom turkey call. The course is limited to 12 ladies. Apply by February 28. In addition to application, complete the Artemis Pre-Program Survey if you haven’t already. If selected, fee to participate is $45. APPLY

Tallapoosa River WMA Turkey Hunt (Intermediate/Advanced Hunters Only)
April 4-5
Looking for a low-pressure turkey hunt this spring? The Artemis Tallapoosa River WMA turkey hunt is happening April 4–5, and this one is best suited for intermediate to advanced hunters due to the nature of WMA hunting and limited amenities. This is not a mentored hunt, but a hunt where if you would like to hunt in pairs you can. For lodging, we plan is to camp at the nearby JL Lester WMA. Want to hunt with friends? Turkey Hunt Camp
April 24 – 26
Eatonton, GA
Join us for a weekend of turkey hunting with other enthusiastic outdoorswomen April 24th-26th. We will have access to 400 acres of private property on Lake Oconee with National Forest Land just down the road. All women are eligible to apply regardless of experience level. We can teach you everything you need to know to go turkey hunting. This is considered a primitive camping experience with no access to restrooms or amenities. If you prefer, sleeping accommodations are currently available at the GWF Alcovy Conservation Center in Covington, GA for $70 (subject to availability). Email btaylor@gwf.org to make arrangements.
Cost for participation in the hunt is $75 including dinner Saturday night. Experienced women willing to coach another hunter has this $75 fee waived. Coaching includes calling, keeping an eye on safety and supporting new participants (you don’t have to be an expert to coach!) Email btaylor@gwf.org with questions on being a mentor). There is flexibility on partial or full weekend participation. There may be opportunities for borrowing equipment.
Please consider this is an application for attendance. Due to limitations on number of participants and the need for varied experience levels, only 4-5 applicants will be selected. All will be notified March 31. Please be sure to also complete the Artemis Pre-Program Survey if you haven’t yet, so that we understand your experience level. APPLY BY MARCH 30.
