Melissa Hulsey
Favorite Outdoor Activity: Hunting, Fly Fishing
Melissa Hulsey is one of the original founders of Artemis Georgia. She grew up in fishing, camping, and hiking in the Catskill Mountains of New York. As a young adult her family moved south and she added hunting to her outdoor activities. She graduated with a BBA from Kennesaw State University and opened her own business, which she ran for 22 years. In 2017 Melissa sold her business and began focusing full time on outdoor pursuits. Archery hunting and fly fishing are her current favorites. She lives on a farm in Chickamauga with her husband Jamey, daughter Adeline and lots of animals.
Olivia Menard
Favorite Outdoor Activity: Playing in her honeybee hives
Olivia Menard is an adult onset hunter who has spent the past 20 years learning about where her food comes from and looking for ways to make her food sources more local and sustainable. If you eat meat at her house, it was likely harvested and processed completely by Olivia. She is a UGA Master Beekeeper in Lawrenceville, GA, and the beekeeper for Hurricane Hives at Monroe Area High School in Walton County, GA. This retired Aerospace Engineer shares her love of outdoor pursuits with others through writing, speaking on food harvest and preparation, mentoring, pollination consulting, and educational program development.
Bre Bashford
Favorite Outdoor Activity: Bird Watching and Forest Naps
Bre grew up in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. She received her B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University and has always enjoyed wildlife. She didn’t hunt or fish as a kid, but was introduced to the activity in college. She wanted to try it so that she could source local and organic protein. She did not expect that learning how to hunt would change her relationship to nature. As a hunter, Bre feels more connected to the land and finds peace and solace in the woods. Now she’s passing on the gift she received and is teaching others how to hunt by being Georgia’s R3 Coordinator. Employed by Georgia Wildlife Federation, Bre helps people from across the state learn hunting, fishing and shooting. Artemis Georgia is one of her favorite programs to work on. She lives in Augusta, GA with her husband, two cats, two dogs and chickens. Reach out at any time for any reason during your learn to hunt journey. bre@gwf.org

She is a Certified Wildlife Biologist® with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Forest Resources/Wildlife Management from the University of Georgia. When not at work as the Landowner Cost-assistance Program Manager for the USDA Forest Service, you can find her outside fishing, camping, kayaking, gardening, and of course hunting.
