Program Description

Georgia Water Coalition

Formed in 2002, the Georgia Water Coalition (GWC) is an alliance of more than 220 organizations, business owners, lake associations, religious groups, professional associations, and sportsmen’s clubs committed to ensuring that water is managed fairly for all Georgians and protected for future generations. The Georgia Water Coalition believes that the surface and ground waters of the state must continue to be managed as a public resource, regulated by the state in the public interest and in a sustainable manner. Interbasin transfers, the moving of water by pipe from one river basin to another and not returned, must be regulated. Efficient water use must be the cornerstone of Georgia’s water supply planning.

GWF is a founding member of the GWC and a member of the leadership, legislation, and communication teams. GWF serves by planning and hosting meetings, publishing annual reports, recruiting new partners, maintaining the partner database, and educating the public about the work of the Coalition.
